City of El Segundo Announces Launch of El Segundo - Back to Business
Dear Valued Business Community:
We are proud to announce the launch of a comprehensive economic recovery program – El Segundo Back to Business. Under this new initiative, we introduce the development of an Economic Recovery Task Force with community and industry experts, a series of round table events featuring elected officials, top executives from El Segundo's largest employers and representatives from the City’s small to mid-size business community, video “Real Stories of Recovery” messages from the business community, and Downtown Business Town Hall forums. Ideas, input and feedback received from these discussions are utilized to shape a framework for economic recovery and business assistance efforts.
Already we are beginning to see some businesses gradually reopen across the country. As our city and county moves into "Stage 2" of the Roadmap to Recovery we want to keep you informed of the recent protocols and guidelines issued by the Los Angeles County and the California Departments of Public Health for reopening businesses.
Many companies are eager to resume operations, but they have questions about precisely how to do it. We have launched a webpage dedicated to provide updates to protocols and industry-specific guidance documents to help you get back to business while taking the necessary precautions to maximize safety.
Among the rules, physical distancing, wearing face coverings, and frequent hand washing will remain critically important for the foreseeable future.
If you have questions related to social distancing protocols and transmission mitigation, please call the El Segundo Joint Information Center at (310) 692-1699 Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Thank you for all you do to help protect your employees, customers and our community.

El Segundo "GUNDO To Go" Restaurant Initiative Launched
Community Over Competition - Spirit of Cooperation and Collaboration
As the COVID-19 pandemic began to spread across the globe, El Segundo restaurants experienced swift and devastating changes to the amount of customers in their dining rooms. As a small community of people who care for one another deeply, El Segundo's restaurant owners and operators came together along with the El Segundo Chamber of Commerce and staff members from the City of El Segundo. This proactive group strategized how they could support one another, stay in business, keep staff employed and provide fresh food to the El Segundo Community.
In the spirit of cooperation and collaboration, Gundo To Go was born and the community quickly galvanized. The concept is an easy-to-access curbside pick-up program for to-go orders featuring easily identifiable dedicated parking spaces. The El Segundo Police Department distributed signs and cones for designated parking within 48 hours, social media was launched and a movement began.
The Gundo to Go supports the state of California's "Stay-at-Home" order that aims to mitigate the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic through social distancing initiatives including the closure of dine-in restaurants.
Currently there are about 80 participating restaurants.
Visit gundotogo.com for a full list of restaurants. The community is encouraged to follow @gundotogo on Facebook and Instagram. #gundotogo.
Gundo To Go is a partnership between the El Segundo Chamber of Commerce and the El Segundo restaurant community, with support from the City of El Segundo.

Government, Military & Education Affairs Committee Update - Fight for Prop 13
The El Segundo Chamber's Government Affairs
Committee takes position to sign on to the Fight for Prop 13 Coalition.
For more than 40 years, Prop 13 has provided property tax certainty to homeowners, renters and businesses. Under Prop 13, general property taxes for both residential and business properties are calculated based on 1% of the purchase price. Annual increases in property valuations are capped at 2% per year, which helps provide certainty to homeowners and businesses that they will be able to afford their property in the future.
Prop 13 also benefits renters, small businesses and all Californians by preventing skyrocketing increases in property taxes that get passed along to tenants and consumers in the form of higher rent and higher costs for goods and services.
For more information about the fight for Prop 13, click on the following links.
